Share Our Light: Sol Movement Philosophy

Our teachers and students come from a storied multitude of yoga practices which are all a part of our current movement evolution. Each have left their imprint and all have made their mark. What makes us unique is the depth of our collective knowledge of functional movement and the passion with which we share our practice. Our Sol Movement methodology honors both dynamic and static posturing, circumferential muscular tone for optimal physical alignment, and the belief that how we move matters. We flow and we bōw, we move and we grow. From deeply restorative and therapeutic stretching to joy of arcing, jumping and twisting, we have a class that is right for you!

Our classes are grouped into categories by ascending challenge. Whether you are a brand new practitioner or a consummate student there is a space for you on your mat. Our practitioners are encouraged to include varying levels of classes on a regular basis to stay grounded and well-rounded. Harder is NOT always better! A practice in which inclusivity and mindfulness are valued above all, we invite you to come take your place on your mat.

All of our classes are available online as live-stream experiences. Life comes at us quickly, and we want to help enable your best response. That means whether you join us in-person or over the wires, there is a community of like-minded individuals all striving to cultivate our highest vibrations. Just because you’re online doesn’t mean you’re alone. We see you, and will meet you where you are.

Sol Stability Classes

Foundations: A class that despite its name is not just for beginners. Anyone desiring to slow down their practice in order to refine and deepen their physical (proprioceptive) and somatic (our experience of self from the inside) understanding of our practice is encouraged to join. We take time to deep-dive into individual postures and uncover their mysteries. These classes are appropriate for all levels (and yes, beginners as well!) and will give you the foundation you need to feel rooted in your practice.

Rise and Shine!: This early morning class invites us to end our week with mindful movement and focus on breathwork. Also geared towards all levels of participants, the practice here is more relaxed and meditative - the perfect time to invite a softer and more compassionate practice into your weekly routine.

Sol Strength Classes

All Levels: This relaxed class is here to move you. Align mind and body through breathwork and a slow flow with yoga-based alignment, and welcome all levels of healing.

Level 1: as our levels progress, they are meant to help us expand - not contract. Despite being a higher level, it’s not always about a harder practice. Yes, more complex postures and sequences are introduced but time is made as well for breaking down those complexities as well as putting them back together in sequence. Intro to handstand work is here as well as you get ready to rise to the next level!

Sol Power Classes

Level 2: a more flow-based and rhythmic class with handstands, arm-balances and longer sequences to be found here, and not for the faint of heart! We do not always move quickly, but all the time powerfully. An amazing opportunity to see how far we’ve come and what exciting places we have to go!

Sol Movement w/Resistance Bands: Our groundbreaking class that utilizes resistance bands to reinforce the efficacy and power of our unique movement.

Roots/Roots *2 (squared): a static sequence of 56 base postures that while remaining the same each time invites innumerable advanced options. By its nature this practice offers us an opportunity to note our progress not just in movement, but in how we serve ourselves.

Sol Fitness Classes

SolFit: A fitness oriented class that incorporates core principles of alignment when engaged in bodyweight, resistance and cardio-based movement. A 45-minute class complete with warm-up and cool-down, these exercises will get your heart pumping! In combination with your yoga practice, this will increase your stamina and strength. Challenge yourself and put your practice to the test!

Relax Your Sol: Meditation and Breathwork

Heart Centered Meditation: In the heart resides the essence of who we truly are. When we connect with our heart’s energy through meditation, we reconnect with our true nature. This practice of facing ourselves deepens our understanding of what it truly means to be human providing the tools to be with all aspects of what is natural. It also develops our intuition and gives us the ability to face whatever challenges life may bring our way. By moving from the intellect and learning to listen to the heart we activate healing and begin to integrate body, mind and spirit. Appropriate for those new to the Heart Centered style as well as students who have participated in prior classes. Please wear comfortable clothing and a pillow to sit upon.

Sol Breathing: The research on breath work, also known as Pranayama, has proven the beneficial link between this practice and our emotional, mental, and physical well-being. But how do we incorporate these techniques in our daily lives? Please join us for one of our 30-minute sessions to find out!
